This is the mean lunar apogee: a smoothed mathematical position opposite the Moon’s mean perigee. It is stored and displayed as a calculated point, never counted as one of the ten core planets.
What Black Moon Lilith means
In contemporary astrology, Lilith is often used to examine where a person is especially alert to rejection, shame, unequal power, unwanted exposure, or pressure to become acceptable. It can also describe an instinctive refusal: the part of an experience that will not cooperate with an arrangement that feels compromising or false.
These themes do not prove trauma, determine sexual behavior, or make someone manipulative or “dark.” Lilith is most useful as a secondary symbol. Read it after the Sun, Moon, personal planets, chart angles, and strongest major aspects have established the chart’s main structure.
Mean Lilith versus True Lilith
The lunar apogee is not a fixed object. Mean Black Moon Lilith smooths the apogee’s movement into an average path; True or Osculating Lilith models its irregular oscillation. The two positions can differ substantially, sometimes even appearing in different signs.
Different astrology tools may therefore show different Lilith positions because some use Mean Black Moon Lilith while others use True/Osculating Lilith. Neither choice should be presented as scientifically more valid for astrological interpretation. When comparing charts, first confirm which definition each tool uses.

My Astro Read uses tighter orbs for Lilith than for planets: 4° for conjunctions and oppositions, 3° for squares and trines, and 2.5° for sextiles.
A Lilith contact should add texture, not take over the reading. Ask what it clarifies about autonomy, consent, boundaries, or exposure that the stronger planetary pattern does not already explain. If it merely repeats an existing theme, it can remain in the background.
